Lemons, tangerines, oranges, and grapefruits – these are the juicy and delicious fruits produced and packaged by Argentinian citrus company San Miguel. Each year San Miguel exports 150,000 tons of fresh fruit to customers worldwide. Volume like that can require up to 7,500 employees during the harvest season. So, careful activity planning in the groves is a must. Until recently, grove workers were required to log tasks manually, creating paperwork and making it hard for management to react quickly to changes.

With SAP Cloud Platform SDK for iOS, San Miguel has created a mobile app that management and workers can use to plan, list, track, and update grove activities. Not only does this save time, but it also helps grove workers stay engaged and on schedule. Real-time integration with SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA means that data entered on-site is automatically updated in back-end systems, resulting in faster, more accurate planning. And, with up-to-the-minute insight into what is happening in its groves, San Miguel can instantly adjust to keep the fruit supply flowing.
